Youmar Realty Trust v. Brockton Redevelopment Authority

The Brockton Redevelopment Authority took, by eminent domain, a building used for a furniture store located in downtown Brockton. The Plaintiff successfully presented evidence that the highest and best use was for its redevelopment into a residential and commercial use.

 

The Plaintiff claimed that the value of the property was $1,650,000.00, while the Defendant claimed it was $1,020,000.00. The Jury returned a verdict of $1,350,000.00.
